Why we built Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro
The Story
Synthesizer V began more than a decade ago to improve traditional vocal synthesizers. Early neural network approaches to speech and singing synthesis suffered from the “oversmoothing” problem. The model learned to predict an averaged version of the sung lyrics. Still, they fell short in certain areas: the tone sounded closer to spoken words rather than singing, some phoneme transitions caused glitches, and true expressiveness stayed out of reach.
We experimented with hybrid approaches, combining sample libraries with neural networks. But the breakthrough came with the understanding that given the same score, there is more than one “right answer” to perform it, and the rest is solving the engineering problem of getting a deep statistical engine running blazingly fast on an ordinary device.
For the first time, neural networks could capture the acoustic complexity of the human voice while keeping every parameter under your control.
Today, Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro represents the culmination of this journey: a fully neural engine that delivers realism and creative freedom, entirely on your computer.
